REMINISCE

      In our school, there would always be an event called The Foundation Day, wherein it is a way to give importance when our school was established and to how it turned out through the years.  In this year, they made it only a 1-day celebration.

      Foundation Day is an exciting day for our school and provides students, staff, parents and guests alike an opportunity to reflect on the growth of the school over the years and the school’s bright future ahead. According to a Teacher, different activites will happen. In the morning, students had a parade around Vigan City. Then after, there will be a field demonstration wherein all of the students are required to join and present their skills especially in dancing. Grade 7 up to Grade 12 will be competing, wherein the best grade level performer will be awarded. In the afternoon, coronation day will happen, wherein the student who won in the popularity contest are crowned from 9th prince and princess to king and queen.

     Celebrating Foundation Day is very important, because, first, it gives us a sense of history. A school celebrates its foundation to reminisce and to honor its establishment.  However, history goes beyond its chronological date. To have a sense of history, it is very important to know where we’ve come from. Hence, on this day, we are reminded of how the school was formed 118th years ago. Today, we reflect on the very early days of the school and how far we have come as a school community. And so, we present to God our stories of joy, of sadness, and of pain with gratitude in this celebration.

     Second, It gives us a sense of mission and purpose. We celebrate so that we do not forget the vision of the people who established it, so that we make new again which has inspired the School for the last 118^th years. There were many who have given so much to the School over the years. Today is therefore about remembering and honoring all who have served to make the School the place it is today.

      Third and last, it is a day of remembrance, a day of honoring, a day to celebrate what has been achieved over the past 118^th  years, and a day to look forward to what is yet to come. This day stands as a reminder to us that when we forget our history, we move into an uncertain future. We celebrate the Day to maintain the school’s principle, so that the teachers, the staff, and the students will be reminded of it.
