MAGIC of CHRISTMAS
Celebrating Christmas is Forever.
Growing up in a home overrun by 15 cousins (Mother side) allowed for moments of great revelry. The hours spent with each other, sharing in times at the rest and play, contain some of my best childhood memories. I am reminded of the impressions of Christmas past, the moments filled with the season of wonder and joy. Writing letters to Santa, decorating the christmas tree and as well as the whole house, and attending midnight mass on Christmas Eve even though my parents are not here with us celebrating Christmas.
The entire world is getting ready to celebrate Christmas and welcome the New Year. After all, both occasions are special for everybody. Christmas is really a special time of the year for everybody, but it is most special for children, because with their foggy and innocent outlook, they wait eagerly for the gifts Santa Clause will bring for them. I recall my childhood Christmas quite fondly. Maybe because as time passed and I get matured, the magic of Christmas changed for me. From a child who thought of Christmas as my own special day to be spoiled, I have come to realize that Christmas is a lot more than just gift giving and eating special holiday food.
Christmas is all about family. How we spend that one magical season with them every year and making it memorable and extra special and being reminded of how they are important in our life. I have come to realize that it is all about family and the love and care that we share with each other even if we can only get together with our other family members once a year.
Christmas commemorates the birth anniversary of Jesus Christ who preached love, brotherhood and forgiveness. If people start loving one another just as fellow human beings, the world will become a much better place to live in. There will be no wars or disputes. When all of us learn how to forgive others, there will be no ill feelings left and all will be happy.Apart from the enjoyment, people should understand the true essence of these occasions.
Such a peaceful and loving atmosphere in the world will ensure total eradication of poverty with development and prosperity for all. This is not a utopian dream but can be possible when all will understand and follow the true spirit of Christmas.
